In a major organisational overhaul, the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) has dissolved all of its organisational units across Bihar with immediate effect, signaling a comprehensive restructuring of the party following its poor performance in the recent Bankipur Assembly by-election.
The decision, announced through an official statement issued by Bihar RJD president Mangani Lal Mandal, applies to every level of the party's organisational structure. District, block and panchayat committees, along with various cell units and affiliated organisational bodies, have all been dissolved.
The move comes days after the Bankipur bypoll, where the RJD suffered a significant setback. The party's candidate, Rekha Gupta, failed to retain her security deposit, triggering introspection within the party over its organisational strength and grassroots outreach.
According to the official statement, the process of reconstituting organisational committees across Bihar will begin at the earliest. The leadership has indicated that the restructuring exercise is aimed at strengthening the party ahead of future political battles in the state.
Reacting to the decision, RJD MLA Bhai Virendra said the party is working to build a stronger organisation and that only dedicated and capable workers will be entrusted with key responsibilities in the new structure. He expressed confidence that the exercise would help revive the party's organisational network across Bihar.
The organisational shake-up follows reports of internal disagreements within the party after the Bankipur defeat, with senior leaders publicly blaming one another for weakening the organisation. The latest decision is being viewed as an attempt by the RJD leadership to reset its organisational framework and prepare for upcoming political challenges.
