Union home minister Amit Shah on Wednesday said the government was ready to hold a detailed discussion in Parliament on the Opposition’s concerns over the NEET protests and allegations surrounding Ram temple donations, amid continued disruptions in the House.

Shah said the debate could begin at 3pm on Wednesday and continue until 3pm on Thursday. He asked the Opposition to submit a request to Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla by 2pm. “The Prime Minister-led NDA government is ready for all discussions. I will answer all the questions, but the House should be allowed to function,” Amit Shah told reporters outside Parliament.

He said issues such as police action against students during protests over the NEET paper leak could not be addressed through a brief statement and would have to be taken up under established parliamentary procedures. “Discussions are held at length. I am ready for the debate to continue from 3pm today, sitting late into the night and continuing until 3pm tomorrow,” Amit Shah said.

The home minister also said he was willing to suspend Question Hour if the Speaker permitted it to facilitate the discussion. “I am ready for the discussion to go until 3pm tomorrow. I will sit through it myself, take notes on everything, and respond to every point so that the entire matter becomes clear to the people of the country,” he said. The Union Home Minister said the next step was now with the Opposition, which had to choose between participating in a debate and continuing with disruptions in Parliament.
