A major cheating racket was uncovered during the NEET UG 2026 re-examination in Bihar’s Lakhisarai district, where police arrested 30 people for their alleged involvement in exam malpractice.
According to officials, nine people were caught appearing in the examination as impersonators in place of registered candidates at different exam centres. One impersonator was detained at KRK High School, seven were caught at Kendriya Vidyalaya, and one was arrested at Hasanpur School. The accused are reportedly from different districts.
Police also arrested 21 other people suspected of being linked to the examination fraud network. Authorities believe the group may be part of an organised “solver gang” that arranges impersonators to take competitive exams on behalf of candidates. The exact role of those arrested is being investigated.
The arrested individuals are being questioned under the supervision of Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) Prabhakar Kumar and Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) Shivam Kumar.
District Magistrate Shailendra Kumar and Superintendent of Police Prerna Kumar are monitoring the investigation. Officials suspect more people may be involved, and further arrests are likely as the probe continues.
The incident comes amid heightened security during the NEET UG 2026 re-examination, which was conducted under strict surveillance following concerns over examination malpractice. Authorities have said they will continue taking strict action against anyone attempting to compromise the integrity of the examination.
