New posters depicting Congress leader and Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi as “real-life Batman” have appeared outside the party’s headquarters in New Delhi, drawing attention with their unusual superhero-themed messaging.
The posters feature Gandhi alongside the fictional caped crusader and carry the words “The Silent Guardian” and “A Watchful Protector.” Another line describes him as “LoP Rahul Gandhi — The Real Life Batman.”
From Instagram Joke To Political Posters
The Batman theme comes days after Gandhi participated in an Instagram “Ask Me Anything” session aimed at engaging with students and Gen-Z audiences.
During the interaction, one user asked him directly, “Are you Batman?” Gandhi responded with a playful reference to the superhero, saying, “Let’s just say that no one has ever seen me and Batman in the same room together.”
The exchange subsequently gained traction online, with the Congress sharing clips from the interaction. Gandhi also posted a video of himself standing in the rain with The Dark Knight theme music playing in the background, further fuelling the Batman comparison.
Posters Put Up Near Congress Offices
The posters were put up near the entrance of Congress headquarters, Indira Bhawan, on Kotla Road, as well as near the Indian Youth Congress office on Raisina Road.
According to reports, the posters were put up by Delhi Pradesh Youth Congress chief Akshay Lakra.
The move comes as Gandhi has increasingly used social media to engage directly with younger audiences, taking questions on education, student protests, politics and other issues.
Batman Image Adds To Gandhi’s New Digital Outreach
The superhero-themed campaign also comes amid Gandhi’s recent political activity, including his protest outside Parliament Street Police Station seeking an FIR and action over injuries suffered by student Sahil Lochab during a July 20 protest.
