Nagaland Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio has strongly condemned the killing of six Naga civilians in Manipur, calling the incident a “horrific and inhuman” act. He demanded immediate action against those responsible and urged authorities to ensure justice for the victims.
The bodies of the six men were recovered in Manipur’s Kangpokpi district after they had reportedly been missing for several weeks. Security forces carried out extensive search operations before locating the remains, and an investigation into the case is underway.
Expressing grief over the deaths, Rio appealed to people in Nagaland, Manipur, and other Naga inhabited areas to remain calm and maintain peace. He stressed that those involved in the killings must be identified and brought to justice without delay.
Rio urged the Government of India and Manipur government to take urgent measures to ensure justice.
"Accountability is essential. Only through a fair, transparent and credible process can a measure of confidence be restored among the people," he said.
The incident has triggered widespread outrage among Naga Organisations and community leaders, with renewed calls for accountability and stronger measures to prevent further violence in the region.
