Punjabi superstar and actor Diljit Dosanjh has made it clear that he has no intention of joining the ongoing protest led by the Cockroach Janata Party (CJP) at Jantar Mantar in New Delhi, stressing that he sees himself as an entertainer rather than a political figure.

During an Instagram Live session on Wednesday (1 July), the Main Vaapas Aaunga actor responded to questions from fans on a range of topics, including whether he would lend his support to the CJP's agitation over alleged irregularities in competitive examinations and the NEET paper-leak controversy.

Rejecting any suggestion that he would participate, Dosanjh said, "Keep me away from all this... Bro, I'm an artist. I'm no politician, I don't know what you think I am."

Reflecting on the broader state of the world, the singer-actor quoted a well-known verse from the Guru Granth Sahib: "Nanak dukhiya sab sansar, so sukhiya jis naam aadhaara," a line that conveys the idea that everyone experiences suffering, while true peace belongs to those who place their faith in God.

He went on to suggest that no society could ever be entirely free of problems, saying, "Look, everything can never be right. Everything in this world can never be right... So, those who are protesting, congratulations to them, and for whom the protest is happening, congratulations to them also, as I don't know anything."

Although Dosanjh has chosen to stay away from the current agitation, he has previously taken public positions on national issues. In 2020, he voiced support for the farmers' protest against the Centre's farm laws, which were subsequently repealed.

More recently, in May this year, Dosanjh dismissed speculation about entering politics after a civil society group urged him to consider a political career. Responding to the appeal on X, he wrote, "My job is to entertain people. I'm very happy in my field. Thank you so much."

The CJP, which began as a satirical digital collective, has been staging a protest at Jantar Mantar since 20 June, demanding the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan over the NEET paper-leak controversy. Climate activist Sonam Wangchuk and several students have been on an hunger strike at the protest site, doubling down upon their demand seeking Dharmendra Pradhan's resignation.
