Vasai-Virar continues to reel under the impact of relentless rainfall, with severe waterlogging, prolonged power outages and lack of basic services disrupting normal life across several areas for the past four to five days. The worsening situation has triggered protests by residents, who have accused authorities of failing to provide timely relief.

In Nalasopara East’s Moregaon area, residents have been without electricity for the past two to three days, leading to growing frustration.

On Tuesday, angry locals staged a protest and marched to the Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Limited (MSEDCL) office, demanding immediate restoration of power.

The protest resulted in massive traffic congestion on nearby roads.

The flooding has also affected emergency medical services. In one incident, a pregnant woman had to be transported to a hospital on a tractor after an ambulance was unable to reach her due to waterlogged roads in Nalasopara.

The incident highlighted the extent of flooding and the challenges faced by residents during the ongoing rains.
In Virar West’s Rashmi Nagar, residents of Bhadra Society have been struggling after floodwaters entered ground-floor homes.

Subhash Pansare, a resident, said water has remained inside his house for the past five days, damaging electrical appliances and household belongings.

He added that the area has been without electricity and mobile network connectivity for several days, leaving residents cut off from the outside world.

A similar situation has been reported from Rashmi Nagar, where Hemlata Shetgir and her family have been living in flood-hit conditions for the past four days. The family, which includes two elderly members and a young woman, has been without electricity, mobile network and drinking water since Sunday. They said they had shifted their belongings to higher places to prevent further damage but alleged that no assistance had reached them so far.

Meanwhile, Datt Nagar Road and Masjid Galli in MB Estate, Virar West, continue to remain submerged.

Even on the fifth day, knee-to-waist-deep water has inundated roads and nearby residential societies, causing immense hardship to residents.

Locals have also alleged that no public representatives have visited the affected areas despite the prolonged flooding and mounting difficulties.
