A bomb threat targeting Delhi's historic Red Fort sparked a security scare on Saturday before being declared a hoax following an extensive search by the Delhi Police.
According to police, the threat call was initially received by the Mumbai Police control room. The information was immediately shared with the Delhi Police, prompting a coordinated security response.
Acting on the alert, personnel from the North District Police conducted a comprehensive search operation in and around the Red Fort. After completing the security checks, officials confirmed that no explosive or suspicious object was found and declared the threat to be false.
Police have launched an investigation to identify the person responsible for the hoax call. Technical teams are working to trace the origin of the call, and efforts are underway to apprehend the caller.
The incident comes days after a similar false bomb threat targeted the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) headquarters in Bengaluru. On July 2, ISRO received an email claiming that an explosion would occur inside the premises, triggering a large-scale security operation.
A day later, Bengaluru Police, with assistance from the Delhi Police, detained a suspect from Ghaziabad in Uttar Pradesh. Investigators later recovered the electronic device allegedly used to send the email. Preliminary findings indicated that the accused was suffering from a mental illness.
No explosives or suspicious materials were recovered during the search at the ISRO headquarters. While a case has been registered, the investigation into the incident is still underway.
