Trinamool Congress MP Mahua Moitra on Friday strongly criticized a late night search operation conducted at the Kalighat residence of TMC national general secretary and MP Abhishek Banerjee.

In a post on X, Moitra alleged that officers from Kolkata Police arrived at Banerjee's residence around 3 a.m., forced open a door, and carried out a search that lasted nearly 90 minutes. She claimed that no incriminating material was found during the operation.

“Zero seizure, 100% vendetta,” Moitra wrote, accusing the BJP of using intimidation tactics against political opponents. She further stated that “intimidation and money will not make you win 2029.”

The search operation has triggered a political controversy, with the Trinamool Congress alleging that the action was politically motivated. Party leaders have questioned the timing and the manner of search, describing it as an attempt to harass opposition figures.

The BJP has not immediately responded to Moitra’s allegations. Meanwhile, details regarding the purpose of the search and the official findings of the operation have not been publicly disclosed.

The incident comes amid heightened political tensions in West Bengal, with both the ruling Trinamool Congress and the BJP frequently accusing each other of political vendetta and misuse of state agencies.

Further details are awaited from the authorities regarding the circumstances surrounding search operations.
