Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) leader and founder Abhijeet Dipke on Saturday called for a “Jail Bharo Andolan” by students and the youth across the country, after the Delhi police denied an extension on CJP’s protest deadline at Jantar Mantar. In a video shared online, Dipke has alleged that the police are on their way to arrest him, urging his fellow protestors to continue on with the movement until Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan resigns.
“Police have denied our request to extend our peaceful protest. They are instead moving to arrest CJP founder Abhijeet Dipke. We request all citizens of this country, students, parents, each one of you who care about the education system of this country to please come to Jantar Mantar in Delhi,” said Dipke in a video shared on “X”.
Earlier, Ahbijeet Dipke had written the Parliament Street Police Station seeking an extension. “We promise you that the protest will remain peaceful and we shall continue to cooperate with you and hope you would do the same,” wrote Abhijeet Dipke in the letter addressed to the police. This is CJP’s second protest at Jantar Mantar, being held over alleged irregularities at national level examinations and recruitment tests, including the NEET controversy. Dipke accused the Centre of failing to ensure a fair examination system and demanded Dharmendra Pradhan’s resignation.
Addressing supporters, Abhijeet Dipke reiterated that the agitation would remain peaceful but would continue until their demand for the Education Minister’s resignation is met. He has stated that the movement will not end without action from the government. “I request the authorities… since youth from all over the country are here. They want to sit here till we get justice. I request Delhi Police to extend our permission. The protest has been peaceful; we are just innocent students who want to sit here, “said Abhijeet Dipke. The youth leader also said that the channel for dialogue is open, but the “only condition is that Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan should resign.”
Security has been tightened at the protest site as demonstrators continue their agitation. Ahead of the protest, Dipke had written an open letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, demanding that accountability be fixed over the concerns raised by students.
The Cockroach Janta Party, which began as a satirical online movement, has rapidly gained support among students and young people across the country. In recent weeks, the party has organised protests in several cities, demanding greater transparency in examinations and recruitment processes.
