A 24 year old woman allegedly died by suicide at her matrimonial home in Delhi’s Nangloi area after recording a three minute video in which she accused her in-laws of harassment and spoke about her husband’s alleged mental instability, police said.
According to police, the woman was found hanging at her in-laws’ residence on Tuesday afternoon. While no written suicide note was recovered from the scene, investigators found a three minute video on her mobile phone in which she addressed her parents and shared the reasons she said had pushed her to take the extreme step.
“Papa, I'm leaving,” the woman said at the beginning, before narrating the ordeal that she had allegedly faced at her in-laws' house.
She also alleged that she had faced harassment from her in-laws and claimed that her husband’s behaviour had become unstable. The woman denied allegations made against her by her husband’s family, including claims that she had assaulted them or practised black magic. She said she had only wanted a peaceful family life but could no longer bear the situation.
Police have launched an investigation and are examining the video along with other evidence to verify the allegations. Statements of family members are being recorded, and appropriate legal action will be taken based on the findings of the investigation.
