The Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) on Saturday launched its much-anticipated protest at Jantar Mantar, with founder Abhijeet Dipke leading demonstrators demanding the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan over alleged lapses in the education sector.
As Dipke arrived at the protest venue, supporters gathered in large numbers, raising slogans such as “Dharmendra Pradhan, resign!” and calling for accountability over issues affecting students and young people. The CJP claimed that “thousands” of protesters had reached Jantar Mantar to participate in the demonstration.
“We elected the Education Minister and sent him there; he gets his salary from our taxes. During his tenure, the future of millions of youth is shrouded in darkness,” the party said in a post on social media platform X.
The Delhi Police granted permission for the demonstration from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., describing it as a “one-time exception.” Security arrangements were intensified in and around the protest site, with police and paramilitary personnel deployed to maintain law and order.
The protest also received support from Trinamool Congress Rajya Sabha MP Sagarika Ghose, who posted on X: “All the best. And all support. Fight the good fight!”
Dipke, 30, hails from Maharashtra and studied journalism in Pune before pursuing higher education in the United States. He recently completed a master’s degree in Public Relations from Boston University and previously worked with the Aam Aadmi Party on social media and election campaign initiatives between 2020 and 2023.
