West Bengal Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikary on Friday issued a strong warning against any attempt to disturb law and order in the state, saying strict action would be taken against offenders.

Speaking as the BJP government’s first first month in office came to an end, Adhikari said, “There will be no Chief Minister worse than me if law and order is violated in Bengal by anyone.” He stressed that maintaining peace and public order would remain a top priority for his government.

The Chief Minister also said that his government would work according to the Constitution and in the interests of the people. He highlighted several initiatives taken during the first month of the BJP led administration, including the extension of central welfare schemes and the signing of new development agreements.
Speaking about the key achievements of the Narendra Modi government, Adhikari said, "Popular leader Prime Minister Narendra Modi has broken all records and created history. Service to the nation has always been his main motto. The Prime Minister prefers to call himself the 'Pradhan Sevak'. He has been working continuously for the country."

Adhikari further announced that Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to visit West Bengal on June 20 and June 21, during which several projects will be inaugurated and International Yoga Day events would be attended.
"On June 20, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Tarakeswar in Bengal and several projects will be inaugurated by him," Adhikari said. "The Prime Minister will come to Kolkata on June 21 for Yoga Diwas. The Constitution is of prime importance to us and we will act in the best interests of the people," he said.

The remarks came amid the government’s efforts to project a tough stance on law and order in the state.
