Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Sunday launched a sharp attack on Prime Minister Narendra Modi over the controversy surrounding the CBSE Class 12 results and the NEET-UG paper leak case, accusing the Centre of “failing students across age groups” while avoiding accountability.

In a post on X, Gandhi alleged that Class 12 students had received unexpectedly low marks because of a “broken OSM system”, referring to the On-Screen Marking evaluation process. He claimed that many students had lost eligibility for college admissions because of discrepancies in the results.

The Congress MP also linked the controversy to the ongoing NEET-UG 2026 paper leak row and criticism over the implementation of the CBSE three-language policy for Class 9 students. According to Gandhi, repeated examination-related controversies reflected a larger “failure” within the Education Ministry under Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan.

“Three exams. Three age groups. One Minister,” Gandhi wrote, alleging that the ministry had become a “department of disasters”. He further questioned why Prime Minister Modi had remained silent despite repeated complaints over examination irregularities and paper leaks.

Gandhi demanded that the Prime Minister either dismiss the education minister or publicly apologise to students affected by the controversies. Using the hashtag “#SackPradhan”, he accused the Centre of allowing uncertainty to grow among students and parents.

The remarks came amid an ongoing investigation into the NEET-UG 2026 paper leak case. The National Testing Agency had cancelled the examination following allegations that confidential question papers were leaked before the test. Multiple arrests have since been made across different states as part of the CBI probe.

Meanwhile, the Ministry of Education has denied allegations that the On-Screen Marking system caused inaccuracies in CBSE Class 12 results.

Officials maintained that the evaluation process was not new and claimed special care had been taken to ensure accurate marking.
