Delhi Police on Saturday arrested another person in connection with the Malviya Nagar hotel fire that claimed 21 lives and left several others injured.

According to investigators, the hotel's cook was taken into custody after the probe indicated that the blaze may have been caused by his alleged negligence.
Police have also detained several other individuals, who are currently being questioned as the investigation continues.

The accused has been identified as Keshav Negi (65), son of late Bakhavar Negi and a resident of Dilshad Garden in Delhi.

Earlier, on Thursday, a day after the devastating fire at the multi-storeyed Flourish Stay B&B in Malviya Nagar, the property's owner, Lavkesh Bajaj, was remanded to four days of police custody.

Bajaj was arrested following an extensive search operation carried out by Delhi Police across the national capital. He was later produced before a Delhi court.

During the court proceedings, Bajaj's counsel said that the defence had not yet received a copy of the First Information Report (FIR). In response, Delhi Police assured the court that the document would be provided.

While seeking four days of police custody, investigators told the court that they needed further information about the hotel's staff, noting that details of only two employees had been shared so far.

The police also sought access to the hotel's records and operational documents as part of the ongoing investigation.

The defence argued that Bajaj had been arrested solely because he owned the hotel and said the police must establish clear grounds for taking him into custody.

Delhi Police informed the court that the intensity of the fire had delayed the completion of forensic examinations at the site.

As per the hospital, stated that 15 patients remain under treatment, including 13 foreign nationals. Six patients continue to be on ventilator support, but doctors said they are stable and showing signs of improvement. Also, patients admitted to both the ICU and general wards are in stable condition.
