Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) National President Nitin Nabin has  announced that the party’s main goal is to form the government in Telangana after the 2028 Assembly elections. Addressing a Booth Pramukh Sammelan in Warangal on Tuesday, he said the BJP is determined to establish a “double engine government” in the state.

The term “Double Engine Government” is used by the BJP to describe a situation where the same party is in power at both the Centre and the State, which is claimed to speed up development and improve coordination between governments.

Speaking to party workers, Nabin said the BJP’s connection with Telangana has been built through years of struggle and public support. He recalled that the region elected the BJP’s first Member of Parliament in 1984 and urged workers to strengthen the party at the grassroots level by reaching every household.
"Relying on the struggles of the people of Telangana and BJP workers, in 2028 we will form a double engine government in Telangana as well. This is our resolve," Nabin said, urging booth level workers to strengthen the party's grassroots network and reach every household.

Nabin also said the BJP wants to revive the original vision behind the creation of Telangana. According to him, the aspirations of the people when the state was formed have not been fully realised, and the BJP aims to address those concerns if it comes to power.
"The people of Telangana are placing their unwavering trust in the BJP. I want us to form the government in Telangana in 2028 through the hard work and dedication of our karyakartas," he said.

Launching an attack on the Congress led State government, Nabin alleged that it had failed to fulfill several promises, including providing employment. He claimed that the government had promised two lakh jobs but had not delivered on that commitment. He also accused the Congress of practising “promise and forget” politics and promoting dynastic leadership.

The BJP chief further criticised Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, calling him a “part time politician.” He highlighted the Narendra Modi government’s achievements in national security, welfare schemes, infrastructure development, and operations against Naxalism as examples of the BJP’s governance.

Meanwhile Telangana BJP President N. Ramchander Rao expressed confidence that the enthusiasm shown by the party workers would help the BJP perform well in the upcoming Warangal municipal elections. He urged party workers to intensify their grassroots campaign ahead of the civic polls.

The BJP’s renewed focus on Telangana signals it’s long term strategy to expand its presence in Southern India, with the 2028 Assembly elections emerging as a key political target for the party.
