The Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust is scheduled to meet in Ayodhya on Monday to consider the resignations of Champat Rai and former trustee Anil Mishra, submitted in connection with the ongoing investigation into the alleged theft of donations from the Ram Mandir.
The meeting will begin at 3 pm at the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi complex, where trustees are also expected to deliberate on key administrative matters.
Several trustees, including Jagadguru Shankaracharya Swami Vasudevanand Saraswati, Yugpurush Swami Parmanand, and Krishna Mohan, have already arrived in Ayodhya. Treasurer Swami Govind Dev Giri, Nripendra Misra, and Swami Vishwaprasannatirth are also expected to attend, while senior advocate and trustee K. Parasaran, Mahant Dhirendra Das, and other members will participate virtually.
The resignations follow allegations of irregularities in the counting and handling of temple donations. A Special Investigation Team (SIT) is currently probing the matter.
Officials said former trust functionaries, including Rai and Mishra, have been questioned during the investigation, along with temple officials. Investigators are also scrutinising financial records and the temple's donation management system.
So far, eight members of the Ram Mandir cash-counting team have been arrested. The accused have been identified as Anukalp Mishra, Lavkush Mishra, Ram Shankar Yadav alias Tinnu, Manish Yadav, Subhash Srivastava, Avinash Shukla, Rama Shankar Mishra, and Karunesh Pandey.
According to sources, the Trust is expected to formally accept the resignations of Rai and Mishra, effectively ending their association with the institution.
The alleged donation theft first came to the notice of Trust members in early June and was publicly disclosed on June 27 by trustee and Treasurer Swami Govind Dev Giri.
During the investigation, Ayodhya Police have recovered ₹79.85 lakh from the eight arrested accused.
The Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust, constituted on February 5, 2020, comprises 15 members, including four ex-officio members. Two trustees—Kameshwar Chaupal and Vimlendra Mohan Pratap Mishra—passed away in 2025. Retired Indian Forest Service (IFS) officer Krishna Mohan was inducted as a trustee in September 2025, while one trustee position remains vacant.
The Trust is expected to announce its decisions on the resignations and other administrative matters after the meeting concludes, even as the SIT investigation into the alleged donation theft continues.
