The death of 28-year-old Rushil Mahendra Gangurde during the Outworld Mumbai concert held at the prestigious NSCI Dome in Worli has taken a serious turn, with fresh revelations pointing towards an alleged attempt by event organisers to conceal the incident.

According to sources, it was not the organisers of the concert who informed the Mumbai Police about the tragedy. Instead, the Breach Candy Hospital administration alerted the authorities after Rushil was brought to the hospital and declared dead by doctors.

Sources revealed that after organisers transported Gangurde to the hospital, doctors examined him and pronounced him dead.

Recognising the gravity of the situation, the hospital administration immediately informed the police. According to the victim’s family and police sources, the event management company, Space Bound, along with its responsible officials, allegedly attempted to suppress details regarding the mismanagement inside the Dome and the circumstances surrounding the incident.

Cause of Death Remains Unclear; Focus Shifts to Forensic Reports
The exact circumstances leading to Gangurde’s death remain shrouded in mystery.

Initially, police had indicated that excessive alcohol consumption might have contributed to the death. However, the preliminary post-mortem examination conducted by doctors at Mumbai’s Nair Hospital failed to establish a definitive cause.
Doctors have reserved their final opinion, noting in the report: “Opinion reserved pending accessory examination.” To determine the exact cause of death, police have sent the deceased’s viscera and other crucial biological samples to the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL).

A senior Mumbai Police officer stated that the investigation now hinges on the forthcoming histopathology and chemical analysis reports. These findings will determine whether the death resulted from suffocation caused by extreme overcrowding, humidity, panic, alcohol overdose, or any other underlying factor.

Allegations of Gross Negligence and Profit-Driven Mismanagement
The victim’s elder brother, Dr. Tanay Mahendra Gangurde (32), a medical professional, has levelled serious allegations of criminal negligence against the concert organisers in his official statement to the police.
Dr. Tanay alleged that during the June 6, 2026 event, organisers sold tickets far beyond the venue’s capacity, resulting in severe overcrowding. Alcohol was being served inside the Dome, but adequate ventilation and crowd-control arrangements were allegedly absent.

According to the complaint, when Rushil suddenly fell unconscious during the concert, organisers failed to provide immediate medical assistance. More alarmingly, staff of the private ambulance stationed at the venue allegedly prevented Rushil’s friends, Parth Bhagat and Pratik Singh, from accompanying him to the hospital.

The family alleges that organisers deliberately sought to prevent information regarding the poor arrangements and Rushil’s deteriorating condition from becoming public, and therefore rushed him to the hospital alone.

Family Left Searching Across Hospitals
The family’s ordeal reportedly continued even after Rushil was taken away from the venue.

According to Dr. Tanay, family members spent several hours searching for Rushil across multiple hospitals in Mumbai.

He alleged that they were provided misleading information over the phone and were initially directed to Jaslok Hospital, only to discover that no patient named Rushil had been admitted there. Instead, they learned that a female attendee from the concert had been taken there for treatment.

Dr. Tanay subsequently returned to the Worli Dome and questioned ambulance drivers present at the venue. Only then did one of the drivers disclose that the unconscious young man had been transported to Breach Candy Hospital.

Doctors at Breach Candy Hospital reportedly informed investigators that by the time Rushil was brought to the emergency ward at approximately 9:40 pm on Saturday, it was already too late.

Medical personnel observed that his body had turned blue, there were no detectable heartbeats, and no measurable blood pressure could be recorded. Hospital doctors immediately informed the police personnel present, following which a panchnama was conducted and the body was sent to Nair Hospital for post-mortem examination later that night.

Police to Question Worli Dome Management and Security Personnel
Mumbai Police are now expanding the scope of their investigation beyond the event organisers.

According to officials, summons will also be issued to individuals associated with the management of the Worli Dome, security supervisors deployed at the venue, and private bouncers present during the event.

Investigators are examining whether mandatory safety protocols were followed, including obtaining fire safety clearances, local police permissions, and adherence to the venue’s prescribed capacity limits.

Police are also scrutinising CCTV footage from inside the Dome to establish the sequence of events and determine whether there were attempts by organisers to suppress evidence related to the incident.

As forensic reports are awaited, the death of Rushil Gangurde has raised serious concerns about crowd management, emergency preparedness, and accountability at large-scale entertainment events in Mumbai.
