Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Sanjay Raut claimed West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee is going to win between 180 and 185 seats and return to power in the state.

Speaking at a press conference, Raut commented on Union Home Minister Amit Shah’s confidence that the BJP would form the government in West Bengal. He said, “Anyone can be confident; there are no restrictions on confidence. However, at times, a person’s confidence may appear to grow based on falsehoods. Whatever the reason for such confidence, I believe that based on the kind of work done by Mamata Banerjee and her party workers, there is no question of their defeat.”

Commenting on re-polling in certain parts of West Bengal, Raut said that complaints regarding EVM irregularities have emerged from several parts of the country, including Maharashtra and Assam.

However, he added that Trinamool Congress workers in West Bengal have remained more vigilant, which has led to re-polling in some areas.

He further stated that the objections raised by Mamata Banerjee and her party against the Election Commission have also resulted in fresh polling at certain booths.

However, Over 86% voter turnout was recorded by 5 p.m. during the repoll at 15 booths across two Assembly constituencies in West Bengal’s South 24 Parganas district on Saturday, according to an official.

Meanwhile, hundreds of villagers staged a protest in Falta in the same district, demanding security after the vote
count and alleging that they had received death threats from TMC workers in the area.
