The Enforcement Directorate on Sunday carried out searches at multiple locations in Kolkata as part of an ongoing investigation into alleged land-grabbing and financial fraud cases linked to fugitive accused Sona Pappu.

Officials said the raids were conducted at the residences of two businessmen in the Anandapur and Alipore areas. The action follows fresh inputs gathered during the course of the probe into suspected financial irregularities and links to the absconding accused.

Sona Pappu, believed to be a key figure in several land-related fraud cases, has been evading authorities for some time. Investigators suspect he maintained close connections with a network of business associates, prompting the agency to expand its inquiry.

Sources indicated that recent leads obtained during questioning directed officials to the targeted premises. The ED is now examining whether the businessmen had any involvement in the alleged financial misconduct or acted as intermediaries in routing illicit funds.

The investigation remains underway, with officials suggesting that more searches and developments are likely in the coming days.
