West Bengal Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari’s helicopter was unable to land in Kalimpong on Monday because of adverse weather conditions in the hills. The aircraft reportedly remained in the air over Kalimpong for some time before abandoning the landing attempt and turning back towards the plains.

Adhikari had been scheduled to travel to Kalimpong by helicopter on Monday afternoon. However, deteriorating weather in the hill region created difficulties during the landing process. After the first attempt failed, the helicopter made another attempt but was again unable to land safely.

The aircraft was subsequently diverted back towards the Siliguri area and landed at the Videocon ground near Uttarkanya. The Chief Minister then proceeded to Uttarkanya from the landing site.

According to the latest information, the weather disruption has led to a change in the Chief Minister’s schedule. Instead of travelling to Kalimpong, Adhikari is expected to conduct the planned meeting virtually from Uttarkanya.

The incident highlights the challenges posed by rapidly changing weather conditions in north Bengal’s hill areas, where poor visibility and adverse conditions can make helicopter operations difficult.

This is a breaking story, more details will be added soon.
