Shiv Sena (UBT) leader, Yuva Sena chief and MLA Aditya Thackeray on Sunday launched a sharp attack on the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), alleging that the party intends to replace the Constitution drafted by Bharat Ratna Dr. B.R. Ambedkar with its own framework.

He also claimed that BJP was engineering defections by purchasing legislators and Members of Parliament to secure the numbers required for its political agenda.

Thackeray made the remarks while speaking to the media after attending a prize distribution ceremony organised to mark the birth centenary year of Shiv Sena founder Balasaheb Thackeray.

Speaking to reporters, Thackeray alleged that the BJP aims to amend the country’s constitutional framework and push through the delimitation legislation by consolidating a parliamentary majority.

“The BJP wants to change the Constitution of the country and get the delimitation Bill passed. That is why MLAs and MPs from other political parties are being bought to secure a majority,” he alleged.

Thackeray also targeted central investigative agencies, claiming that the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) and the Income Tax Department function as instruments of the BJP. He further criticised the Enforcement Directorate (ED), alleging selective action in investigations.

He questioned why the agencies had not acted against individuals such as Champat Rai or Mishra in connection with allegations related to the Ram Temple and asked what role the BJP and Prime Minister Narendra Modi had played in the matter.

In another attack on the BJP, Thackeray claimed that the Ram Temple in Ayodhya was constructed following the Supreme Court’s verdict and not because of legislation introduced by the BJP.

“The BJP did not bring any law to build the Ram Temple, but it continues to take credit for it,” he said.

Referring to alleged thefts from the Ram Temple donation box, Thackeray alleged that those involved were “the real anti-Hindu and anti-national elements,” while accusing the BJP of attempting to claim political mileage from the temple.

Thackeray also raised concerns over the proposed Mumbadevi Corridor project in Mumbai. He alleged that under the guise of developing a corridor, attempts were being made to acquire land in the Mumbadevi area.

Drawing a comparison with redevelopment projects in Varanasi, he claimed that several temples had been demolished in the name of the Kashi Corridor and warned against similar action in Mumbai.

“If anyone attempts to take over the land around the Mumbadevi temple in the name of a corridor, Shiv Sena will strongly oppose it,” Thackeray said.
