Abhishek Banerjee posted two videos on Thursday, alleging his office was “attacked and vandalised” by goons. The office, from where the MP had been operating since 2023, was also raided by Kolkata Police along with KMC officials last Thursday over a billboard dispute. The TMC National General Secretary posted two back to back videos depicting the alleged vandalism. One is labelled office CCTV from “7th_FL_Lobby4.” The other is handheld footage of the damaged interiors. Together they form the visual evidence he offered for the alleged 4:30 a.m. raid. Independent forensic examination of the raw files has not been published or confirmed by the police; the following is a description of the frames that are publicly available.
Lobby CCTV (timestamps beginning 04:58:58 on 3 September)
The camera looks down a glass-walled lobby with yellow sofas, a large wall poster and scattered debris already on the floor (papers, cables, broken pieces). Several men move through the space:
* At least one man wears a face mask and a patterned short-sleeved shirt. He carries a large white plastic container (resembling a jerrycan or storage box) toward the exit.
* Another man in dark clothing carries a large black flat-screen monitor or television.
* Others (mostly masked) walk in and out of the glass doors, some appearing to handle additional items.
* At least one is spotted wearing a helmet along with a mask
* The floor is already littered; more objects are dropped or left behind as people leave.
The clip lasts roughly two minutes and shows repeated trips carrying electronics and containers out of the lobby. No firearms, sticks or other weapons are visible in the extracted frames.
Aftermath handheld video
This clip walks through inner rooms and corridors. Visible damage includes:
* Large areas of shattered glass on wooden flooring.
* Overturned office chairs and scattered papers.
* Electronic items on the floor, including what appear to be monitors, a keyboard or similar device, and a blue product box.
* An open server/network rack with exposed cabling.
* General disorder: bags, leaves, small objects and broken pieces strewn about.
The footage confirms alleged vandalism and removal of equipment. It does not by itself identify the people or prove political affiliation. The faces of the people were hard to identify just from the CCTV footage available in public domain.
Six people have been detained by police, an official statement is still pending. Banerjee described “BJP hooligans, armed with weapons” who “attacked our people, snatched their phones.” The released videos, so far shared, do not clearly show weapons, physical assaults on staff, or phones being taken. Faces are partly obscured by masks; clothing is ordinary (shirts, trousers, sandals).
Kolkata Police detained six people for questioning. No official identification of the men in the videos, no recovered weapons list, and no independent timestamp verification of the full CCTV hard drives have been released publicly as of mid-morning on 3 September.
The clips document that people entered the seventh-floor lobby, removed electronics and containers, and left the premises in a damaged state with glass and furniture broken. They do not, on their own, establish who organised the incident, if their entry was unauthorised, whether weapons were used, or how long police took to arrive. Those questions require the complete camera recordings, staff statements, and police investigation.
