The West Bengal government on Wednesday announced the allocation of portfolios to ministers inducted during the recent expansion of Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari's cabinet, completing the formation of the state's new Council of Ministers. The portfolio distribution comes days after 35 ministers were sworn in, taking the strength of the ministry to 41 members. 

According to the official allocation, senior BJP leader and first-time MLA Swapan Dasgupta has been entrusted with the Finance Department, one of the most significant portfolios in the government. Former Trinamool Congress leader Tapas Roy has been assigned the Industry Department, placing him at the centre of the state's industrial development agenda. 

The allocation exercise follows the major cabinet expansion carried out on June 1, when 35 BJP legislators were inducted into the government led by Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari. Among those sworn in as cabinet ministers were Swapan Dasgupta, Tapas Roy, Shankar Ghosh, Arjun Singh, Deepak Burman, Manoj Oraon and Gouri Shankar Ghosh. 

Other Cabinet Ministers include:
• Nisith Pramanik: North Bengal Development and Water Resources Investigation and Development
• Ashok Kirtonia: Food and Supplies, and Co-operation
• Dilip Ghosh: Panchayats and Rural Development, and Agricultural Marketing
• Kshudiram Tudu: Tribal Development, Minority Affairs and Madrasah Education
• Agnimitra Paul: Urban Development and Municipal Affairs
• Arjun Singh: Labour and Transport
• Gouri Sankar Ghosh: Backward Classes Welfare and Mass Education Extension and Library Services
• Dr. Kalyan Chakraborti: Information Technology and Electronics, Science and Technology, Biotechnology, Food Processing Industries and Horticulture
• Dr. Sharadwat Mukherjee: Health and Family Welfare
• Arup Kumar Das: Irrigation and Waterways
• Ajay Kumar Poddar: Public Health Engineering and Public Works
• Dudh Kumar Mondal: Agriculture
The notification also announced three Ministers of State (Independent Charge):
• Malati Rava Roy: Women and Child Development and Social Welfare, Self Help Group and Self Employment, and Programme Monitoring
• Rajesh Mahata: Animal Resources Development and Fisheries
• Dr. Indranil Khan: Youth Services and Sports, and Consumer Affairs
In addition, 19 Ministers of State have been assigned responsibilities across departments. These include:
• Joyel Murmu: Tribal Development; Irrigation and Waterways
• Dr. Hare Krishna Bera: Higher Education and Technical Education, Training and Skill Development
• Anandamay Barman: Transport and Finance
• Ashoke Dinda: Agricultural Marketing; MSME and Textiles
• Nadiar Chand Bouri: Public Works; Backward Classes Welfare
• Bishal Lama: Home and Hill Affairs; Minority Affairs and Madrasah Education
• Santanu Pramanik: Food and Supplies; Panchayats and Rural Development
• Moumita Biswas Misra: Industry, Commerce and Enterprises; Science and Technology and Biotechnology
• Umesh Rai: Parliamentary Affairs; Urban Development and Municipal Affairs
• Purnima Chakraborty: Information and Cultural Affairs; Tourism
• Koushik Chowdhury: School Education; Fire and Emergency Services
• Bhaskar Bhattacharya: Public Health Engineering; Labour
• Dibakar Gharami: Co-operation; Forests and Environment
• Amiya Kisku: Food Processing Industries and Horticulture; Agriculture
• Kalita Maji: Housing
• Gargi Das Ghosh: Power; Non-Conventional and Renewable Energy Sources
• Advocate Biraj Biswas: Law; Judicial Department; North Bengal Development
• Dipankar Jana: Land and Land Reforms and Refugee Relief and Rehabilitation; Sundarban Affairs
• Sumana Sarkar: Health and Family Welfare

The expanded cabinet has been structured to balance administrative experience, regional representation and social diversity. Several ministers from North Bengal, Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe communities, as well as leaders with backgrounds in academia, journalism and public life, have been accommodated in key positions. 
With portfolio allocation now complete, the newly constituted government is expected to begin full-scale administrative operations across departments. The distribution of responsibilities marks the final stage of cabinet formation after the BJP formed its first-ever government in West Bengal following the 2026 Assembly elections.
