The National Working Committee meeting of the All India Trinamool Congress (AITC) met on on Friday, June 5, at the party chairperson Mamata Banerjee’s residence Kalighat, where several key organizational changes and appointments were announced.
Among the most significant decisions, senior leaders and Members of Parliament Derek O’Brien and Dola Sen have been appointed as National Joint Secretaries. They will assist National General Secretary Abhishek Banerjee in strengthening the party’s organizational activities across the country, MP Kalyan Banerjee said in a press conference.
The party also announced the reconstitution of the West Bengal Pradesh Trinamool Congress Committee. Leaders said this is the first phase of appointments and that additional names will be included in the coming days.
Chandrima Bhattacharya has been appointed as the new State President of the West Bengal State Trinamool Congress. Senior leader Subrata Bakshi will continue in his role as Vice-President of the National Working Committee.
The newly appointed Vice-Presidents of the West Bengal Pradesh Trinamool Congress are Sajda Ahmed, Mamata Thakur, Nayana Bandyopadhyay and Swati Khandekar.
The party named Babar Ali, Pulak Roy, Ashima Patra, Aroop Biswas and Rajib Banerjee as State General Secretaries.
The list of Executive Members includes Jyotipriyo Mullick, Dr. Rana Chatterjee, Bidesh Bose, Trinankur Bhattacharjee, Jaya Dutta, Tapas Chatterjee, Vasundhara Goswamy and Goutam Deb.
In the party’s frontal organizations, Saayoni Ghosh will continue as President of the Trinamool Youth Congress (TMYC), while Madhurima Thakur has been appointed General Secretary of the youth wing.
Mala Roy has been named President of the Mahila Trinamool Congress, while Priyanka Adhikary will lead the Trinamool Chhatra Parishad (TMCP). Moloy Ghatak has been appointed President of INTTUC, the party’s trade union wing.
Madan Mitra will head the Hawkers and Government of India Employees’ wing, while Becharam Manna has been appointed President of the Farmers’ Cell. Purnendu Bose will lead the Khet Mazdoor wing, and Birbaha Hansda has been entrusted with the SC/ST Cell.
The party also announced that the existing spokesperson panel will continue, comprising Chandrima Bhattacharya, Kalyan Banerjee, Madan Mitra and Kunal Ghosh.
Subhasish Chakraborty has been appointed as the party Treasurer.
