Security arrangements were significantly strengthened across the national capital on Saturday as members of the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) gathered at Jantar Mantar to stage a protest, prompting authorities to deploy additional personnel and enforce heightened surveillance measures.
According to official sources, around 40 companies of paramilitary forces have been stationed across key locations in Delhi to support the Delhi Police in maintaining law and order during the demonstration. Senior police officers, including Joint Commissioners of Police, Deputy Commissioners of Police, Additional DCPs and Assistant Commissioners of Police from multiple districts, have been assigned field responsibilities to oversee security operations.
“Comprehensive security arrangements have been put in place to ensure public safety and maintain order,” a source familiar with the deployment told media.
Authorities have established multiple layers of barricading at sensitive points across the city, particularly in and around central Delhi. Vehicle-checking drives have also been intensified on major routes leading to the protest site and other strategic locations as part of precautionary measures.
Security has additionally been enhanced outside the residence of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan. Officials described the move as a preventive step aimed at avoiding any untoward incidents during the course of the protest.
Police officials said they are closely monitoring the situation and coordinating with paramilitary personnel to ensure that the demonstration remains peaceful. Traffic diversions and movement restrictions were expected in some areas as security agencies continued their vigil throughout the day.
