A major accident was reported on Saturday at the Yashwadi Devasthan temple complex in Manwath Taluka of Maharashtra's Parbhani district after the roof of an under-construction assembly hall (Sabhamandap) collapsed. The structure, being built in front of the temple's sanctum sanctorum, suddenly gave way, triggering panic among devotees present at the site.
According to preliminary information, around 20 to 25 devotees are feared to be trapped beneath the debris. Local authorities, police personnel and rescue teams rushed to the spot shortly after the incident and launched a rescue operation. Efforts are currently underway to clear the rubble and evacuate those feared trapped under the collapsed structure.
Several injured devotees have been shifted to the District General Hospital in Parbhani for treatment. The condition of the injured is yet to be officially disclosed. Officials have not yet confirmed the exact number of casualties or injuries. Rescue operations are continuing and authorities are assessing the extent of the damage.
