In a shocking development in the Ketan Agrawal murder case, the father of the prime accused, Siya Goyal, has said that his daughter deserves the harshest punishment if she is found guilty of the crime.
The murder of Ketan Agrawal at the historic Lohagad Fort has stunned the country. Police have arrested Ketan’s fiancée, Siya Goyal, along with her alleged lover, Chetan Chaudhary, accusing them of conspiring to murder Ketan by pushing him into a deep gorge at the fort.
Speaking to India Today, Siya’s father, Praveen Goyal, made an emotional appeal, saying that if his daughter is convicted, she should either be sentenced to death or thrown into the same gorge where Ketan lost his life.
“If my daughter is found guilty of this brutal crime, there should be no delay in delivering justice. Either hang her or take her to the same fort and throw her into the same valley,” he said.
Praveen Goyal was reportedly admitted to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) after suffering severe shock following his daughter’s arrest. After recovering, he reiterated that while he still struggles to believe his daughter could commit such an act, he would not allow his emotions as a father to stand in the way of justice.
“I still cannot believe my daughter could do something like this. She has never lied to me. But if she pushed Ketan into the gorge, she deserves the same fate. Justice must prevail,” he added.
Ketan Agrawal died after falling from Lohagad Fort on June 18. The incident was initially believed to be an accident. However, the investigation later revealed evidence suggesting it was a premeditated murder.
According to the police, Siya Goyal and Chetan Chaudhary allegedly planned the murder because Siya feared her family’s reputation would be damaged if she called off her marriage to Ketan.
Investigators claim the duo lured Ketan to Lohagad Fort and pushed him into a deep gorge. Police have also alleged that the accused had made earlier unsuccessful attempts to kill him. Both accused are currently in police custody.
Meanwhile, Siya’s mother, Pooja Goyal, has denied reports suggesting there were any disputes between the couple. She said Ketan and Siya shared a healthy relationship, regularly spoke over video calls, and frequently met each other.
“We had even spent nearly ₹50,000 shopping for their pre-wedding trip to Bali. If she did not want to marry him, why would we have made all these preparations?” she said.
Pooja Goyal also claimed that the family had no knowledge of Siya allegedly being in a relationship with another man, maintaining that the revelation came as a complete shock to them.
