The National Testing Agency (NTA) has announced several student friendly measures for the upcoming NEET (UG) 2026 examination, scheduled to be held on June 21. The changes have been introduced to make the examination process more comfortable and convenient for candidates while maintaining fairness and security.

One of the major changes is the extension of the examination window. The total duration of the exam has been increased to 195 minutes (3 hours and 15 minutes), giving students an additional 15 minutes compared to the earlier schedule. The examination will now be conducted from 2:00 p.m. to 5:15 p.m. This includes invigilation formalities such as signing at the start and the end of an exam, which previously reduced candidates’ effective working time.
“ By setting the window at 195 minutes inclusive of formalities, we have ensured that the time available for the examination is fully protected,” the agency said in a statement.

The NTA has also increased the space available for rough work in the question booklet. Candidates will now have four pages for rough calculations and notes, instead of the earlier two pages. This is expected to help students manage calculations more effectively during the test.

In addition, the question booklet design has been revised to improve usability and reduce confusion during the examination. The agency said that these measures were introduced after considering student feedback and aimed at creating a smoother examination experience.

The new measures are intended to support candidates while supporting the integrity and transparency of the examination process.
