Trinamool Congress (TMC) Rajya Sabha MP Prakash Chik Baraik resigned from the Upper House on Thursday, adding to the growing troubles within the party. Baraik submitted his resignation to Rajya Sabha Chairman C.P. Radhakrishnan.

His resignation comes just days after other TMC Leaders, including Sukhendu Sekhar Ray and Sushmita Dev, stepped down from the Rajya Sabha, raising concerns about unrest within the party.

In his first reaction after resigning from the Rajya Sabha, Baraik said his decision was not made under pressure from the BJP.
"I resigned after considering the mandate of the people of Bengal. Now, I will do as the CM (Suvendu Adhikari) asks me to...I am not being pressured by BJP," he said.

Baraik, who represented West Bengal in the Rajya Sabha since 2023, also served on parliamentary committees related to consumer affairs and tribal affairs. In his resignation letter, he thanked the Chairman, Deputy Chairman, and Rajya Sabha Secretariat for their cooperation during his tenure.

The resignation is being seen as another setback for the Mamata Banerjee led TMC, which had witnessed a series of high profile exits in recent days.
