A shocking case of domestic violence has come to light from Chhattisgarh’s Koriya district, where a man allegedly tied up his wife, beat her, shaved her head, blackened her face and forced her to drink urine in front of their four children. The incident has sparked outrage after videos of the assault surfaced on social media.

A video allegedly showed parts of the incident involving Tara, who had married Jitendra Ghasia nearly 15 years ago after being in a relationship with him. According to the victim, she had been living separately from her husband, due to years of abuse and financial problems. She worked as a domestic helper to support herself. On June 14, the accused allegedly tracked her down, accused her of having relationships with other men, tied her hands and feet with a rope and brutally assaulted her. She also alleged that he threatened to burn her alive.
"He cut my hair, shaved my head, blackened my face with soot and engine oil, beat me and forced me to drink urine. I was threatened that I would be burned alive," the woman said.

The woman claimed that her husband forced their children to slap her during the assault. She further alleged that he made one of the children force her to drink urine before he himself did the same. The victim has denied all allegations against herself and said her husband had long suspected her character and regularly abused her.
"I was beaten earlier too. They suspected me from the beginning. They also demanded dowry. After giving birth to four children, I underwent sterilisation. I want justice and I want him punished," she said.

Police initially registered a case under several provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), including charges of cruelty by husband, causing hurt, obscene acts and criminal intimidation. After the disturbing videos emerged, more serious charges were added. The accused has been arrested, and further investigation is underway.
