BRS working president KT Rama Rao (KTR) on Saturday challenged Congress leader Rahul Gandhi to visit Telangana and listen to the concerns of students, accusing the state government of failing to deliver on its employment and education promises. KTR hit out at Rahul Gandhi over his ongoing ‘Chhatron Ki Goonj’ campaign, which focuses on issues such as examination irregularities, paper leaks and unemployment.
“Rahul Gandhi, can you not hear the echo of the students here? Can you not hear their voice? Come to Telangana. Come to Ashok Nagar in Hyderabad or come to Karimnagar. We will offer you full hospitality, but come and speak to our students,” KTR said.
He also referred to Rahul Gandhi’s pre-election interaction with unemployed youth in Hyderabad’s Ashok Nagar and questioned the Congress government’s promise to create two lakh government jobs every year. “You promised two lakh jobs. What happened to that promise? Where are you now?” KTR asked.
Targeting Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, KTR alleged that the government’s promised job calendar had failed to meet expectations. “There is no job calendar, only a ‘scam calendar’ and a ‘boothu calendar’,” he alleged.
KTR’s remarks come amid protests by students across Telangana. Polytechnic students, including those in Karimnagar, have recently demonstrated against a proposed merger of polytechnic education with Young India Skill University under GO 97.
Rahul Gandhi’s ‘Chhatron Ki Goonj’ campaign has been highlighting student concerns across the country, including alleged examination irregularities, paper leaks and the lack of employment opportunities.
