A serious incident of alleged assault and manhandling involving a woman doctor, nurses and other hospital staff has come to light at Shastrinagar Hospital, operated by the Kalyan-Dombivli Municipal Corporation (KDMC).
The matter has escalated after CCTV footage of the incident surfaced.
According to information available, Shiv Sena (Shinde faction) corporator Ramesh Mhatre arrived at the hospital along with a few of his associates. An argument reportedly broke out between them and the hospital staff over an issue. As the dispute escalated, the group allegedly pushed, assaulted and behaved abusively with a woman doctor, nurses and other employees.
The CCTV footage has sparked outrage among hospital staff, who have demanded strict action against those responsible. The incident has also raised fresh concerns over the safety and security of healthcare workers while on duty.
An official response from the parties concerned is still awaited. If a police complaint is lodged, further legal action will be initiated in accordance with the law.
